The main difference between products made for profit and products made to benefit others are the intentions behind the creation. Products made for profit do not have the buyer and buyer's best interests in mind. In their eyes, money is the priority. You can identify when a product has been made solely for profit because for one, it will often not be essential, and their strategy and pricing will be geared towards squeezing the absolute most money out of people. It's pretty easy to identify such products, for example beauty products, which were not made for the main reason of benefiting others; they were made for profit. To add to that, products like these have a huge profit margin, which shows us that these companies are selling to consumers at what they think they can get from them, not even close to how much they cost to manufacture.
Examples of products that were made to benefit others are products that were made as a better solution to an existing issue. For example, a company that makes their packaging biodegradable, or a food/snack company that provides a product that uses less processed ingredients and gives better lives to the animals it uses. All of this being at the same or similar cost to their competitors. These are all clear signs of products that were made for benefiting others or the world as a whole.
