Blog #3 (sem2)

I will be starting my next school year at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I will be pursing a major in mechanical engineering. I chose UA because of their very strong engineering program. The specific school is their Mechanical and Aerospace engineering college. The University recently received a multi-million dollar federal grant for 'Land, Air, Sea, and Space' research. Looking at all the UA senior engineering students final capstone projects was really exciting as all of the projects were just the kind of things I hope to learn and do. That brings me to our SAMO PLTW senior capstone projects. What our group, Nuntius Salutem, has been able to accomplish despite all being online is certainly what I am most proud of in all 4 years of PLTW. I feel really proud of myself and my group for all the work and research that we put in to make a functioning prototype that we believe, if used properly, will significantly reduce driver distraction, which was our goal. From the beginning of the project I knew that we needed to create a solution that worked and would actually solve a real world issue. I also knew that the goal we set out to chase had to be achievable and relevant to engineering. I have no doubts that we did the best we could using what we had and in the situation we were in. We wanted to create something that someone could use and definitively say, 'yes, this works and it is clear how will help the problem'. Rather than just an informational website or a concept. So all in all, that it what I am most proud of during my PLTW career.
